About Our Island
Even though just a quick 30-minute boat ride away from the world-famous resort island of Phuket, Koh Yao Yai still enjoys a slow pace of life. The moment you step onto the lazy shores, the usual stress and worries of everyday life melt away.
One of the Thailand’s best-kept secrets, Koh Yao Yai offers countless hidden treasures of indigenous plant, animal and marine life as well as friendly islanders who warmly welcome eco-conscious travelers and holiday makers.
Located in the picturesque Phang Nga Bay, the Koh Yao island group consists of 44 islands with a total area of 142 square kilometers (one-third the size of Phuket). Small communities inhabiting the island make their living from fishing, rice farming, rubber tree plantations and tourism.
Average temperatures vary from 26 to 29°C, with warmest temperatures in March/April reaching 32°C. The island experiences high levels of sunshine all year round, including months when rains may be more frequent. June–October experience rainy and sunny days intermixed. November–April months have dry, cooler and calmer weather conditions.
